Carnton, home of Carrie and John McGavock, served as the largest Confederate field hospital following the Battle of Franklin, fought in 1864. Robert Hicks immortalized Carrie McGavock in his New York Times bestseller The Widow of the South. The McGavock Confederate Cemetery is on site, as well as fully restored garden and slave quarters. Value ticket includes admission to Carnton, The Carter House and Lotz House.

Hours: Guided tours 9 am – 5 pm Mon – Sat; noon – 5 pm Sun.  (Closed most major holidays)

Groups of 10 or more with reservations receive a discount. Credit cards accepted.

GROUPS: Recommend Carter House, Lotz House and McLemore House tours as add-ons. Carnton is an ideal event venue for tented, outdoor special events including parties and weddings and indoor events in the Fleming Center.
