Home to the New York Times bestseller, The Widow of the South, this elegant plantation home became a makeshift field hospital during the fierce Battle of Franklin. Carnton Plantation offers daily tours of the beautifully restored mansion, ornamental gardens, and the largest privately owned Confederate cemetery in the country.
The new Fleming Visitor's Center includes a bookstore, gift shop and event space.
GROUPS: Groups enjoy touring Carnton Plantation. Recommend Carter House, Lotz House and McLemore House tours as add-ons. Carnton is an ideal event venue for tented, outdoor special events including parties and weddings and indoor events in the Fleming Center.
